Background of the Study:
E-governance has revolutionized public administration by leveraging digital technologies to enhance service delivery and citizen participation, particularly in Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area. The integration of digital platforms into government operations has improved transparency, efficiency, and accountability in local governance (Ogun, 2023). Digital innovations have streamlined administrative procedures, reduced bureaucratic delays, and enabled real-time communication between government officials and the public (Adeniran, 2024). Despite these advantages, challenges such as digital illiteracy, inadequate infrastructure, and cybersecurity concerns continue to impede full e-governance potential (Bello, 2023). Recent reforms aimed at expanding digital literacy and infrastructure have shown promising results, indicating that continued investment in technology could further enhance local government operations (Ibrahim, 2024). The study underscores the need for continuous improvements to ensure that e-governance benefits are equitably distributed across the community (Adebola, 2023).
Statement of the Problem:
While e-governance initiatives have improved local government services, Ajeromi-Ifelodun still faces issues such as low digital literacy among residents and inadequate technological infrastructure. These challenges hamper the full realization of the potential benefits of e-governance and limit effective public participation (Ola, 2023).
Objectives of the Study:
To evaluate the current state of e-governance in Ajeromi-Ifelodun.
To identify challenges affecting e-governance implementation.
To propose strategies for improving digital service delivery.
Research Questions:
How effective is the current e-governance system in the area?
What are the main challenges faced in its implementation?
What strategies can enhance e-governance performance?
Research Hypotheses:
E-governance improves administrative efficiency significantly.
Digital illiteracy negatively impacts e-governance effectiveness.
Improved infrastructure enhances digital service delivery.
Significance of the Study:
This study is significant for highlighting the transformative role of e-governance in local administration. Its findings provide a roadmap for policymakers to overcome challenges and enhance digital governance practices (Chukwudi, 2024).
Scope and Limitations of the Study:
Limited to the topic only.
Definitions of Terms:
